July 17, 2005 - Spain: Celta Vigo snap up Javi Guerrero [Sun Jul 17th, 2005]
Celta Vigo have reached an agreement to sign Javi Guerrero from Racing Santander, as the Galicians’ rebuilding continues.
The 23-year-old forward was available on a free transfer and opted to sign a three-year deal with Celta, who won automatic promotion back to the Spanish top flight after just one season in the second division.
Celta have already brought in Esteban from Sevilla and Jogre Larena from Atlético Madrid this summer, and are linked to a plethora of players as they bid to bring their squad up to La Primera standards.
For Racing, it is also a period of transition, as they have sold or seen several stars leave for free, including Yossi Benayoun and Mario Regueiro.
Guerrero is set to undergo a medical at the Balaidos and will then put pen-to-paper on a three-year contract at the club.
