Brazil: Santos storm back for victory in Robinho's last game [Thu Aug 25th, 2005]

Rio de Janeiro (Reuters) - Santos rallied from a two-goal deficit to win 3-2 at Paysandu in Robinho's last game for the club before he completes his move to Real Madrid.

The win pulled Santos level on points with Brazilian championship leaders Corinthians, who lost 1-0 at Juventude.

Both teams have 39 points from 22 games, but Corinthians lead on the number of victories.

Paysandu, who are bottom of the 22-team table, raced to a 2-0 lead in 40 minutes with goals by Robson and Marco Aurelio.

The defending champions pulled one back before half-time through former Barcelona and Olympiakos striker Giovanni and levelled through Geilson five minutes into the second half.

Midfielder Ze Elias completed the comeback with the winner in the 72nd minute.

Robinho said he was not worried about failing to score in his last game.

"I'd have been sad if Santos had lost and I had scored," he said.

A second-half goal from Josiel gave Juventude, who are coached by Brazil's 1990 World Cup coach Sebastiao Lazaroni, the points against Corinthians in Caxias do Sul.

Corinthians were missing Argentina forward Carlos Tevez, who was serving the third game of a three-match suspension for swearing at a referee.

Juventude are 12th with 32 points.

Former Brazil striker Romario missed a penalty as his Vasco da Gama side beat Brasiliense 1-0 in Rio de Janeiro.

The 39-year-old casually stroked his effort wide of the goal early in the second half. Iranildo also missed a penalty for the visitors before Vasco won with a Fabio Braz goal midway through the second half.

Palmeiras stretched their unbeaten run under former Brazil coach Emerson Leao to 10 matches as they beat Sao Caetano 2-1 while South American champions Sao Paulo remained stuck in the relegation zone after a 1-1 draw with Fluminense.

Sao Paulo are 19th in the 22-team table with 22 points.

The bottom four teams go down.

Serbian midfielder Dejan Petkovic, who has already played for Flamengo, Vasco da Gama and Vitoria in Brazil, made his Fluminense debut.
