Ziegler dropped by Switzerland [Fri Aug 26th, 2005]
Tottenham Hotspur winger Reto Ziegler has been left out of Switzerland's provisional squad for next month's World Cup qualifiers against Israel and Cyprus.
The 19-year-old, who is yet to play for Tottenham this season, was the only unforced change from the Swiss squad that beat Norway 2-0 away in a friendly last week.
Stuttgart striker Marco Streller is also absent after sustaining a knee injury that is expected to keep him out of action for three months.
Thun forward Mauro Lustrinelli has meanwhile been handed his second international call-up two days after helping his tiny club grab a surprise spot in the UEFA Champions League.
Switzerland coach Koebi Kuhn said he would be adding another two players to the squad on Sunday.
The Swiss are second in European Group Four, one point behind leaders Ireland but with a game in hand.
Israel are third, a point behind the Swiss, with former world champions France languishing a further point behind in fourth spot.
Switzerland play Israel in Basel on September 3 and Cyprus in Nicosia on September 7.
