Paraguay promise a hard time for Argentina in World Cup qualifier [Fri Aug 26th, 2005]
Asuncion (Reuters) - Paraguay coach Anibal Ruiz promised to give Argentina a tough battle when the two sides meet in their World Cup qualifier on September 3.
"We will try to wound or create situations which can damage the rival," he told reporters. "We will try to win back the ball quickly and attack as much as we can."
Paraguay are fourth in the 10-nation South American World Cup qualifying group with 22 points from 15 games, two ahead of Colombia and Chile.
The top four teams qualify directly for Germany next year and the fifth play off against the winners of the Oceania region.
Ruiz announced that strikers Jose Cardozo and Roque Santa Cruz, who had initially been ruled out through injury, would be included in the squad.
He said the Bayern Munich's Santa Cruz had made a surprisingly good recovery from a thigh strain while Cardozo will be present to lend moral support.
Argentina have 31 points and are already qualified.
Ruiz also caused a surprise by recalling 34-year-old midfielder Roberto "The Bull" Acuna, who has not played for his country for three years.
