US: FC Dallas general manager steps down [Sat Aug 27th, 2005]
Late last night, FC Dallas GM Greg Elliot surprised many by resigning from the front office after a two year stint with the club. Elliot cited “philosophical differences†with the ownership as the reason for his departure.
“We are appreciative of the effort Greg has put into his position and the contributions he has made towards shaping the team into one of the MLS’ most competitive on-field teams as well as his contributions towards the building of our new home, Pizza Hut Park,†said John Wagner, president of the Hunt Sports Group. “As an organisation we have decided to move in a different direction and we wish Greg all the best in his future endeavors.â€
John Alper, Dallas’s senior vice president of business development, will be the acting GM for the club at this time. Alper has been with the club since its inception in 1995.
