England: Ferrari's Everton move complete [Sat Aug 27th, 2005]
After weeks of speculation, AS Roma defender Matteo Ferrari has officially been loaned to Premiership side Everton, with an option of a permanent move.
The former Parma captain may make his Premiership debut against Fulham on the weekend if his international clearance comes through in time.
Toffees' manager David Moyes is extremely happy with the signing of the Italian international, admitting to the club's official website: “He played 50 games for Roma last season and was in the Italian squad that went to the European championships.
“We are talking about someone who has decent quality, but the biggest thing will be adapting to the Premiership.â€
Ferrari added: “I am very happy because I am a fan of English football and Everton have shown so much confidence in me."
Everton is expected to add Holland international midfielder Andy van der Meyde to their ranks next week, after agreeing a fee for his service with Inter Milan.
