England: QPR draw with Wednesday [Sat Aug 27th, 2005]
Queens Park Rangers' off-field difficulties have stretched onto the field, after the troubled Championship club were held to a dull 0-0 draw against a 10-man Sheffield Wednesday outfit.
Following a week of boardroom dramas involving chairman takeovers and the lot, QPR's players could not have partaken in a duller affair on the park.
Both teams lacked conviction with the most exciting action of the match occurring in the 77th minute, when Wednesday's John Hills was sent off for a second bookable offence.
Neither side's goalkeeper was tested, but QPR captain Kevin Gallen should have done much better with a chance afforded to him by Tommy Doherty's through ball.
He was one-on-one with David Lucas, but weaseled it straight into the goalkeeper's hands.
The final moments of the 90 minutes provided a bit of goal-mouth action, but 0-0 was the just result between two teams expected to struggle this season.
