China: C-League- Dalian juggernaut rumbles on [Sat Aug 27th, 2005]

Dalian Shide kept their ten-point lead intact with a resounding 4-0 win at Chongqing Qiche.

Zou Jie put the seven-time champions ahead in the fourth minute and it was only a matter of time before Dalian scored another. Brazilian defender Adilson Dos Santos provided it five minutes into the second half. Jie added his second and his team’s third midway through the second period and the win was capped by a late own goal.

Shanghai Shenhua kept their rivals in sight on the horizon with a hard-fought 2-1 win over city rivals Inter Shanghai; national team midfielder Sun Xiang opening the scoring midway through the first half. Inter equalised seven minutes after the restart, but Xiao Zhanbo quickly restored the 2003 champions’ lead, an advantage which lasted until the final whistle.

Shandong Luneng took third place from Tianjin Teda with a 2-1 victory thanks to a last-minute winner from defender Gao Yao. National team striker Li Jinyu opened the scoring for last season’s runners-up in the eighth minute, but Shandong were pegged back ten minutes before the break by Tianjin’s South African midfielder Bennett Mnguni. They took all three points thanks to Yao’s late show.

The other two fixtures ended 1-1. Wuhan Huangelhou drew with Liaoning FC and Beijing Hyundai shared the same scoreline with Shenzhen Jianlibao.
