Germany: Bundesliga reports [Sat Aug 27th, 2005]

Frankfurt (Reuters) - Reports of Bundesliga matches played on Saturday:

COLOGNE 2 KAISERSLAUTERN 3

Halil Altintop scored twice, taking his season tally to six, as Kaiserslautern clinched a deserved win over promoted Cologne.

Altintop headed in a Vahid Hashemian cross for the first and made it 2-0 in the 79th minute with a far post header.

Cologne levelled with a Matthias Scherz strike and a first goal of the season for Lukas Podolski, a header that went in off defender and bar, but a foul on Ferydoon Zandi gave the visitors a last-gasp penalty which was put away by Ervin Skela.

BAYERN MUNICH 3 HERTHA BERLIN 0

Michael Ballack scored the first and set up the second to inspire a third win from three games for Bayern and take the champions two points clear at the top.

Ballack broke the deadlock early in the second half with a deflected free kick and the Germany captain crossed for Mehmet Scholl to nod in the second five minutes from time.

Roy Makaay sealed a third successive victory when he waltzed through the defence and scored his sixth goal of the season a couple of minutes later.

EINTRACHT FRANKFURT 1 NUREMBERG 0

HAMBURG SV 1 HANNOVER 96 1

Hamburg, bidding to maintain their perfect record, fell behind in the 18th minute to a goal from Czech forward Jiri Stajner but the home side equalised four minutes later with Mehdi Mahdavikia's header.

SCHALKE 04 1 BORUSSIA MOENCHENGLADBACH 1

Schalke were in charge for much of the game, but poor finishing meant they were unable to keep pace with leaders Bayern.

Kasper Bogelund put Moenchengladbach ahead four minutes before the break when he struck on the rebound, after an Oliver Neuville effort had been deflected.

Schalke equalised in the 54th minute with an Ebbe Sand header from Levan Kobiashvili's cross.

VfL WOLFSBURG 2 BAYER LERVERKUSEN 1

Wolfsburg came from behind to claim their first win of the season.

Marko Babic set up Dimitar Berbatov to put Leverkusen ahead in the 22nd minute. Wolfsburg piled forward and got the equaliser when Andres d'Alessandro headed in a Hans Sarpei cross six minutes before the break.

Pablo Thiam's header from a Juan Carlos Menseguez cross made it 2-1 early in the second half and Wolfsburg's task was made easier when Roque Junior was sent off in the 76th minute after a run-in with D'Alessandro. Babic became the second Leverkusen player to receive a red card in the final minute.

WERDER BREMEN 1 VfB STUTTGART 1

Stuttgart remain without a win in the Bundesliga under Giovanni Trapattoni but they could be satisfied with taking a point from in-form Bremen.

The home side were ahead five minutes before the break thanks to Ivan Klasnic's well-placed header.

Jon Dahl Tomasson levelled five minutes after the restart, taking the ball into the area on the left and beating the keeper with a shot from a tight angle.
