England: Stoke sign Guinea striker [Wed Aug 31st, 2005]

Stoke City have completed the signing of Guinea international striker Sambegou Bangura after their application for a work permit was approved.

The 23-year-old joins the Potters from Belgian side Standard Liege on a three-year deal for an undisclosed club record fee.

Chief executive Tony Scholes said: "Sambegou was (manager) Johan's (Boskamp) number one target over the summer and we're delighted that with the backing of the board we have been able to bring him to the club.

"We look forward to seeing him in action for Stoke City."
