Germany: Heinz leaves Gladbach for Galatasaray [Wed Aug 31st, 2005]

Czech international striker Marek Heinz has finally left Borussia Mönchengladbach and signed for Turkish club Galatasaray.

Heinz, linked to a departure from Borussia Park all summer, has finally moved on for a fee of €2.25 million.

According to Gladbach manager Peter Pander: "Marek indicated his intention to leave at the end of last season and this has now been put into effect. We have always said to him that a transfer would only be possible if a club came in with the right offer, and that would have to be similar to the sum which Borussia had paid for him last year. This is now the case. We wish Marek every success with Galatasaray."

The Bundesliga club paid Sparta Prague €2.3 million for the Czech league's top scorer in 2004 on the back of the player scoring a superb free kick for his country against Germany at Euro 2004.

However, his time in Germany proved comparatively fruitless, with the forward netting just once in 23 Bundesliga appearances.
