Sweden lose Svensson [Wed Aug 31st, 2005]
Sweden midfielder Anders Svensson has been ruled out of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Bulgaria and Hungary because of injury.
Svensson has been struggling with a knee problem for over a month and Sweden coach Lars Lagerback has now decided to release the Elfsborg player from his squad.
"Anders Svensson tried to take part in a regular training session with his club Elfsborg, but didn't succeed and he is now withdrawn from the squad," Lagerback said.
Sweden, who are second in their World Cup qualifying group behind Croatia, face Bulgaria on Saturday in Stockholm before travelling to Budapest to meet Hungary on September 7.
