France: Marseille snap up Cesar [Wed Aug 31st, 2005]
Marseille have signed Slovenia international centre-back Bostjan Cesar from Dinamo Zagreb.
The 23-year-old has penned a four-year contract with the French side, who are at the foot of the Ligue 1 table, having failed to win any of their opening five matches.
"We have agreed not only with Dinamo Zagreb but also with the player about a four-year contract," said OM president Pape Diouf on www.olympiquedemarseille.com.
"We are very happy to sign this player who is tall and a good left-footed defender and corresponds to the profile we were looking for."
Cesar, who has won 10 caps for Slovenia, is currently preparing for his country's upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Norway and Moldova.
However, Marseille have been unable to complete a deal to sign Standard Liege's Serbia & Montenegro international Ivica Dragutinovic.
Marseille had reached an agreement with Standard to sign the defender for £1 million, but the player rejected the chance to move to France.
