England: Tottenham sign Newcastle's Jenas [Wed Aug 31st, 2005]
London (Reuters) - Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of England midfielder Jermain Jenas from Newcastle United, the London club said.
Jenas, 22, completed the move after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.
Jenas moved to Newcastle under former manager Bobby Robson for five million pounds (US$9.04 million) in February 2004, having made his name as a teenager with Nottingham Forest.
Usually a central midfielder, he can also operate on the right. He has forced his way into the England reckoning and has 12 caps, but decided he wanted to move.
"We didn't want him to leave but he's a big boy and it was his choice," Newcastle manager Graeme Souness told the club's website.
"I'm sorry he didn't see his long-term future here, but everyone here wishes him all the best in his career."
