China: C-League: All too simple for Dalian [Wed Aug 31st, 2005]
Dalian Shide moved a massive thirteen points clear of Shanghai Shenhua in second place with a routine 3-0 victory over last season’s runners-up Shandong Luneng.
With Shenhua enjoying a rest night, Dalian took full advantage as Zou Jie bagged a brace for the second consecutive game, scoring either side of the break for the seven-time champions before Hu Zhaojun added a third on the hour.
Tianjin Teda moved above Shandong into third place after a 2-0 win at Shenzhen Jianlibao. Shenzhen’s form has been improving of late, but the defending champions fell behind in the 12th minute as Liu Wel scored for Teda and their fate was sealed as Mao Biao struck with nine minutes remaining.
Beijing Hyundai are chasing the chasing pack and moved a little closer with a 3-1 win over Sichuan Guancheng thanks to a hat-trick from Romanian striker Ilic, that moves the capital outfit to within two points of fifth-placed Wuhan Huanghelou, who drew 0-0 with Inter Shanghai.
Elsewhere, Qingdao Zhongdeng came back from two goals down to defeat FC Liaoning 4-3.
