Germany: Cologne release Tokoli [Thu Sep 1st, 2005]
Bundesliga high-flyers Cologne have released striker Attila Tokoli one year before the end of his contract so that he can join Cypriot side Anorthosis Famagusta.
The 29-year-old Hungarian spent only one season with Cologne and was unable to impress then coach Huub Stevens, who selected him only four times.
Both clubs have not disclosed the financial package for the striker, who joined Cologne from Ferencvaros in 2004 and would have been released automatically had the Rhein-side club not achieved promotion to the Bundesliga last season.
New coach Uwe Rapolder has been equally unimpressed with his progress since taking over in the off season, although he was used as a 68th-minute substitute in the opening game of the campaign against Mainz.
