Buckley withdraws from South African squad [Thu Sep 1st, 2005]

Johannesburg (Reuters) - Borussia Dortmund winger Delron Buckley has withdrawn from South Africa's squad for Saturday's World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou, officials said.

The 27-year-old has failed to recover from an ankle injury suffered when he played for South Africa against Iceland on August 17.

Buckley also misses the friendly against World Cup hosts Germany in Bremen on September 7.

Officials also said striker Benni McCarthy had been given permission to skip training to fly to London for talks with English Premier League club West Ham United.
