Asian champions Al Ittihad take on Job [Thu Sep 1st, 2005]

Asian champions Al Ittihad have taken Middlesborough striker Joseph-Desire Job on a one-year loan deal.

The Saudi side are hoping that the 27-year-old, who has scored 22 goals since joining the English side in 2000 from French club Lens, could add the firepower in attack to successfully defend their continental title and wrest back the domestic championship from Al Hilal.

We wish Joseph luck in Saudi,” Middlesborough manager Steve McClaren told the club’s official website. “He is keen to secure a place in Cameroon’s squad as they bid to qualify for next summer’s World Cup finals.

"Understandably, he needs first-team football, which was something I couldn’t guarantee him here."
