Germany: Goal-shy Mainz snap up Zidan from Werder Bremen [Thu Sep 1st, 2005]

Frankfurt (Reuters) - Coach Juergen Klopp hopes to have solved Mainz's goalscoring problem by signing Egyptian striker Mohamed Zidan before the transfer deadline.

Mainz are bottom of the Bundesliga, without a point or even a goal to their credit after three matches.

Zidan joins on loan from Werder Bremen, who signed him from Danish club FC Midtjylland midway through last season.

Mainz also signed Brazilian striker Romulo on loan from Ituano this week, giving them hope of a new start when they host Hamburg SV in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

"We didn't think it would be possible to get Zidan as well as Romulo," said Klopp. "We're delighted it's worked out. The cards have been reshuffled for us."
