US to close out World Cup qualifying at Gillette Stadium [Thu Sep 1st, 2005]

Earlier today, it was announced that the US will play their final qualifying match for the 2006 World Cup at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts on Wednesday October 12th at 8:00pm EST.

The team will take on Panama, who they defeated on penalties to win the CONCACAF Gold Cup on July 24th.

With a win against Mexico this Saturday, the US can qualify for next summer’s World Cup, which will be held in Germany. At this point, most expect that the Americans will have already qualified by the final match, and that Bruce Arena will be using the match to tryout more players for his final squad.

Tickets for the event will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, September 7th at 10am. Members of USSoccer.com and New England Revolution Center Circle will get a chance to buy tickets this Friday at noon, and will be notified ahead of time on how they can participate.
