Brazil: Parana coach moves to Turkey [Fri Sep 2nd, 2005]
Brazilian outfit Parana have moved quickly to appoint Luiz Carlos Barbieri as the replacement for recently-departed coach Lori Sandri.
Sandri quit his post on Thursday morning to join Turkish outfit Caykur Rizespor on an eight-month contract with the option of a further year.
"I said good-bye to the players and I'm flying to Turkey on Friday," he said.
"Caykur Rizespor have only one point from their last four league matches and the club's president wanted a Brazilian coach."
But the Panama board wasted little time in finding his successor and chose Barbieri above the likes of Vagner Benazzi and Roberval Davino.
The new boss will be presented to the media on Friday and will attempt to guide his sixth-placed side towards the top of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
