Spain: Deportivo La Coruna snap up Uruguayan Taborda [Fri Sep 2nd, 2005]
Uruguayan striker Sebastian Taborda signed a four-year contract with Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna after completing a medical earlier today.
The 24-year-old is Deportivo’s third signing for the season, after they already signed Canadian Julien de Guzman and Juanma Delgado.
Taborda arrives from Uruguayan club Defensor Sporting, where he made his debut as a professional back in 2000.
Since then he has had loan spells at other clubs including Fenix, UNAM Pumas of Mexico, and Universidad Catolica, before returning to Uruguay where he helped Defensor qualify for the Copa Sudamericana and secure a second-place finish in last season's Torneo Uruguayo Especial.
Taborda, who is known for his physical strength and good heading ability, will add an extra dimension to the Deportivo attack, and will hope to help the club challenge for the top spots in La Liga.
