Perth boss McMahon forced into changes [Fri Sep 2nd, 2005]
Perth Glory boss Steve McMahon has been forced into making changes for his side's away clash with the Melbourne Victory in A-League round two action on Sunday.
Solomon Islands international striker Henry Fa'arodo is unavailable due to international duty, while Naum Sekulovski remains sidelined with a hamstring complaint and Matt Horsley is battling illness, among other possible absentees.
"We won’t have a full squad available this week," the former Liverpool star said. "Henry Fa’arodo won’t be available, Naum is definitely out, obviously Tarks (David Tarka) is out.
"Matt Horsley is ill and could barely get out of bed this morning so it would be a fruitless exercise in even taking him, especially given that he might infect other players as well.
"Stephen, my son, has been struggling, he had an injection over the week and that will settle down, he will travel and we will make a decision late on. Scotty Miller trained yesterday. He was a bit ginger, he didn’t go through the session at 100% but we are hopeful with Scotty that he will play."
Despite the probable absentees, McMahon realises his side need points after their round one home loss to the Central Coast Mariners. "We need to get points on the board, a draw would be OK but I’m not looking for a draw," he stated.
"In every game I play we are looking for a victory. If we get a draw away from home it wouldn’t be a bad thing and then we have got two home games. We must capitalise on our home performance, we haven’t done so yet but at least we have an opportunity very quickly to make amends."
For Melbourne, star striker Archie Thompson is out due to Australian international commitments.
