World Cup qualifying: Eight teams so far join Germany in World Cup finals [Mon Sep 5th, 2005]
London (Reuters) - The following countries have secured a berth alongside hosts Germany in the 32-team 2006 World Cup finals following the weekend's qualifying matches:
South America - BRAZIL and ARGENTINA
Two more qualifiers from the 10-nation group with the fifth-placed team going into a playoff against the Oceania winners.

CONCACAF - UNITED STATES
Two other teams to qualify from the six-nation final group, while the fourth-placed team go into a two-legged playoff against the Asia winners.

Europe: UKRAINE (Group Two), GERMANY (hosts)
Another seven group winners and the two best second-placed teams also qualify automatically, while six other runners-up go into playoffs in November.

Asia: JAPAN, SOUTH KOREA, IRAN and SAUDI ARABIA
Playoff between Uzbekistan and Bahrain to be decided in Tuesday's second leg (Uzbekistan 1-0 up after first leg) with the winners going through to a playoff against the fourth-placed team in Concacaf region.

Oceania: Playoff between Australia and Solomon Islands to be decided in Wednesday's second leg (Australia 7-0 up). Winners progress to a playoff against the fifth-placed South American team.
