Injury sends Queensland's Shin home [Mon Sep 5th, 2005]

Queensland Roar midfielder Tae-Yong Shin will return to Korea later this week to discover the extent of a recurring ankle injury.

Shin injured his ankle during training last week and missed the Roar's 0-0 draw with Adelaide United.

The 34-year-old will seek out the opinion of the surgeon that operated on the ankle prior to the 1998 World Cup.

Queensland coach Miron Bleiberg said he expected Shin to rejoin the squad on October 1 with Spase Dlievski extending his temporary contract.

"We will listen to what his doctor has to say and take it from there," Bleiberg said.

"He will be away for a few weeks but there is no point in us having a player with us who cannot perform to his best ability. We need to get this injury resolved for the benefit of the team and for the benefit of Tae-Yong himself."

Queensland leave for Perth on Thursday in preparation for Saturday's A-League clash against the Glory.
