Spain: Sevilla's Makukula to have more surgery on his knee [Tue Sep 13th, 2005]

Madrid (Reuters) - Sevilla striker Ariza Makukula is to undergo further surgery on his knee, the Primera Liga club said.

The 24-year-old missed a large part of last season after having surgery to repair ruptured knee cartilage 12 months ago, and the season before he was sidelined for six months after tearing the cruciate ligament in the same knee.

Although the Congolese-born player returned to action near the end of last season, he has continued to suffer from pain in his knee.

Makukula underwent an intensive pre-season in Belgium to prepare for the current league campaign but after consultation with doctors and the club, they have decided to operate again.
