Romania: Italian Landi quits as National Bucharest coach [Thu Sep 15th, 2005]

Bucharest (Reuters) - National Bucharest's Roberto Landi became the third coach to quit just five rounds into the new season after his team's crushing home defeat at the weekend.

An official at the first division club said the Italian had resigned after a 4-0 defeat by CFR Cluj on Saturday, which left National sixth in the table with nine points from five games.

"Landi told the club that he has quit," National's sport manager Vicentiu Iorgulescu told reporters, adding that his replacement would also be foreign.

Italian Walter Zenga coached National Bucharest two years ago before taking over at Steaua Bucharest for a season.

Earlier this month Emil Sandoi quit Pandurii Tirgu Jiu and Basarab Panduru left Vaslui after a string of poor results.
