Colombia: More surgery for Montoya [Thu Sep 15th, 2005]
Former Once Caldas coach Luis Fernando Montoya, who was shot last year, has undergone a complicated surgery to help him breathe alone.
The 48-year-old was shot twice last December when he tried to save his wife during a robbery and has been paralysed since.
The operation, which lasted more than eight hours, had been put back two days by doctors at the Las Americas hospital in Medellin because Montoya had been suffering with a fever.
Montoya was named Coach of the Americas in 2004, when he led Once Caldas to the Copa Libertadores championship.
