Sheffield United continued their outstanding start in the Championship by securing a 1-0 win at Brighton.
Blades' star Phil Jagielka netted in the 25th minute to hand his team the three competition points, which moves them closer to ending their 11-year Premiership exile.
The win keeps Neil Warnock's men in top spot.
Meanwhile, in a match that pitted United's closest rivals against each other, Reading edged Crystal Palace 3-2 at the Madejski Stadium.
Kevin Doyle put the home side ahead in the first half, until England striker Andrew Johnson levelled just before the break.
Clinton Morrison handed Palace the advantage just after the break, but goals to Leroy Lita and Ibrahima Sonko secured Reading the victory and three points to keep pace with Sheffield United.
