US Open Cup final to be played at Home Depot Center [Fri Sep 16th, 2005]

Chicago (AP) -- The Los Angeles Galaxy will host the US Open Cup final against FC Dallas on September 28 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

Dallas defeated the Chicago Fire 1-0 to advance to the final for the first time since winning the tournament in 1997.

Los Angeles have a chance to win their first US Open Cup since 2001 after advancing to the final on the strength of a 5-2 rout of the Minnesota Thunder.

The competition, which started in 1914, is an invitational tournament for amateur and professional clubs to compete for the national football championship.
