UEFA punish Serbia's Red Star [Sat Sep 17th, 2005]
Red Star Belgrade were told on Friday that they must play their next home match in UEFA club competition in an empty stadium because of unruly crowd behaviour last month.
UEFA also ruled that Red Star could face a second match behind closed doors and other punishment if fans commit further offences in the next two years.
Red Star supporters set off flares before and during the second leg of a UEFA Cup second qualifying round match against Croatia's Inter Zapresic on August 25 in Belgrade.
They also threw missiles - including a mobile phone, two plastic lighters and a coin - onto the plastic roof covering the Inter Zapresic bench.
Red Star drew 0-0 at home to Portugal's SC Braga in the first round of the UEFA Cup. They play the second leg in two weeks, meaning the punishment will be imposed in the competition's group stage or, if they are eliminated, when they next qualify for Europe.
Red Star have until midnight CET on September 19 to appeal the decision.
