Greece: PAOK Salonika coach quits [Sat Sep 17th, 2005]

Athens (Reuters) - Greek club PAOK Salonika are looking for their fourth coach in 12 months after Nikos Karageorgiou resigned.

"I want to thank PAOK's fans for their support. I wish the team good luck in the league and success in the future," Karageorgiou said in a statement.

Karageorgiou, a former PAOK player, took over as coach in mid-February following the sacking of the Austrian Rolf Fringer who had only replaced Angelos Anastasiadis five months earlier.

PAOK finished last season in fifth place, but have only one point to show from their two league games this season.

On Thursday they drew 1-1 with Metallurg Donetsk in the first leg of their UEFA Cup first round match in Thessaloniki.

Georgos Kostikos and Haralambos Michailidis will take temporary charge of the first team until a new coach has been hired.
