England (Div 1): Sheffield United cut Watford down to size [Sun Sep 18th, 2005]

London (Reuters) - First division leaders Sheffield United came back from two goals down to beat 10-man Watford 3-2 in a Vicarage Road thriller.

Two goals from Darius Henderson, either side of the break, looked to have lined up a Watford victory before Phil Jagielka headed home and then Paul Ifill equalised in the 65th minute.

Watford had Malky Mackay red-carded two minutes later and the hosts paid for it in the 80th minute when captain Clarke Carlisle put the ball into his own net to hand victory to their promotion rivals.

The Blades are top on 24 points from nine games, four points clear of Reading, who beat Crewe Alexandra 1-0 with a late strike by Icelandic defender Ivar Ingimarsson.

Watford are third on 17 points, leading Luton Town on goal difference after their local rivals won 1-0 at Hull.

Elsewhere, Leeds United beat Queens Park Rangers 1-0 despite having their Northern Ireland striker David Healy sent off after 65 minutes, Cardiff City were 1-0 winners over Crystal Palace and Leicester City finished 0-0 at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
