Italy: Serie A Saturday Wrap [Sun Sep 18th, 2005]

Inter Milan removed the worries generated by the defeat against Palermo as they easily saw off Lecce's challenge during the Serie A match at San Siro, with a 3-0 win over the Giallorossi.

It was all easy for Roberto Mancini's side, as they dominated from start to finish in a game which could have ended with a bigger winning margin.

After a couple of initial misses by Adriano, Cambiasso sent Martins through as the Nigerian striker beat the offside trap and opened the score for the Nerazzurri in the 25th minute.

Four minutes later it was Stankovic who doubled the score when he deflected a Veron cross to make it 2-0. This was the first goal in ten months for the Serbian player.

Inter kept pushing forward but only managed to add another goal to their tally with 6 minutes to go when from another Veron cross, Julio Cruz controlled the ball before slotting it in past the helpless Sicignano.

With this result, Inter are on top of Serie A with 6 points along with Juventus, Udinese and Livorno, but the Nerazzurri have played a game more than the other three teams.

In the other match of the day, Parma beat Empoli 1-0 to climb in safer waters of the league. The winning goal was scored by Bernardo Corradi in the 17th minute of the first half to seal the victory for the Gialloblu.

Thanks to this win, Parma now have four points, whereas Empoli are still on zero after three matchdays.
