Norway: Title setback for Valerenga [Mon Sep 19th, 2005]
Valerenga's hopes of lifting their first Tippeliga title in 21 years suffered a setback when they were held to a goalless draw at home to Lillestrom in Norway.
The Oslo club were clearly still suffering the effects of their midweek UEFA Cup exploits, with the Lillestrom defence keeping Tore Andre Flo and Ardian Gashi at bay.
Valerenga now hold a four-point lead over IK Start, who travel to Brann on Monday night, with the race for the title now looking like a two-horse race after Viking FK slipped to a 1-0 loss at Odd Grenland.
Olivier Occean scored the only goal on the stroke of half-time to leave Viking seven points behind the leaders with just five games remaining.
Basement club Aalesund remain four points adrift of safety after battling to a 1-1 draw with fellow-relegation candidates Bodo/Glimt.
Trond Olsen's early strike for the visitors was cancelled out by Aalesund's Bechara Oliveira nine minutes from time, with both teams continuing to occupy the bottom two places in the table.
In other matches, Ham-Kam edged Lyn Oslo 1-0, while Mathias Lindstrom was sent off for Fredrikstad in their 2-0 defeat at Tromso.
