Argentina: Boca Juniors move into third [Mon Sep 19th, 2005]
Boca Juniors won 2-0 against Gimnasia y La Plata in round seven of the Apertura to move into third place in Argentina - a point behind new leaders San Lorenzo and Banfield.
Rodrigo Palacio put Boca ahead in the first half and Federico Insua sealed the victory in the 57th minute.
Meanwhile, Velez Sarsfield won their derby match against River 1-0 when Claudio Enria took advantage of a mistake by Marcelo Gallardo in the 40th minute to score.
In their Florencio Sola stadium, Banfield beat Colon 2-0 with goals from Dario Cvitanich and Jose Sand (penalty).
Javier Sanguinetti, central defender and Banfield's captain, made his 243rd appearance in the green-and-white to overtake the record of Silvio Sotelo set in the 1970s.
Argentinos beat Rosario Central 1-0 with the only goal scored by Gaston Machin halfway through the second half to move joint third with Boca.
Elsewhere, Racing and Olimpo drew 2-2, Instituto and Gimnasia y Jujuy were goalless and Arsenal beat Newell's Old Boys 3-1.
