Internacional top in Brazil [Mon Sep 19th, 2005]
Internacional claimed a 3-2 home win against Atletico Paranaense and climbed to the top of the Campeonato Brasileiro with 47 points - one ahead of Fluminense and Corinthians.
The visitors started well and striker Finazzi put them ahead early on, but Ricardinho levelled in the 26th minute.
Jorge Wagner put Internacional ahead minutes later with a superb free kick but in the first minute of the second half, Denis Marques equalised with his first goal in the Campeonato after a great pass from Thiago Almeida.
Internacional took control and claimed the victory when striker Rafael Sobis scored after a superb pass from Wagner.
Meanwhile, Fluminense were held to a goalless draw by Coritiba and lost the top spot.
Elsewhere, Corinthians beat Figuirense 3-2 and climbed to second place with 46 points, but Santos missed the chance to take over as leaders when they lost 3-0 against Atletico Mineiro, whose goals came from Catanha, Ueslei and Rubens Cardoso.
Also, Sao Paulo defeated Vasco 4-2 - goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni missed one penalty but converted another - Fortaleza beat Brasiliense 2-0 and Botafogo won 3-1 against Goias.
