Argentina: New roles for Bauza, Solari [Tue Sep 20th, 2005]

Two clubs in Argentina's Apertura tournament have appointed new managers as they seek to recover from their disappointing starts to the season.

Eduardo Bauza has been named coach of Colon of Santa Fe, replacing former boss Gerardo Martino who resigned last week after seeing his side lose four of their first seven matches.

Osvaldo Sosa was expected to fill the vacant position, but the Colon board discarded his application because of his wage demands.

It will be the second time Bauza, the former Rosario Central and Velez Sarsfield coach, has taken the reins at the Santa Fe club, following a previous spell during the 2002-03 campaign.

Colon are currently 19th in the Apertura tournament, their latest defeat coming against Banfield last weekend when Mario Sciaqua was in temporary charge.

Newly-promoted Tiro Federal have replaced Jorge Castelli, who resigned on Sunday after presiding over seven defeats in a row, with former Saudi Arabia coach Jorge Solari.

Solari has also had a previous managerial stint at his new club - he coached Tiro Federal in the 2003/04 season when they were in the Argentinian second division.

He insisted his first task would be to put an end to Tiro's current winless run, with Independiente their next opponents this weekend.
