Ukraine: Dnipro halt slide [Tue Sep 20th, 2005]

Dnipro climbed away from the danger zone with a crucial 1-0 home win against Metallurg Donetsk.

The hosts travelled to Scotland for their UEFA Cup clash with Hibernian in midweek and the visitors are fifth in the league table, but Dnipro mustered enough energy to clinch the win.

Oleg Shelayev struck the only goal of the game with a precise finish from 12 yards, following an assist from Sergiy Nazarenko.

Dnipro held on for only their third win from their opening nine league games, which saw them climb from 13th to 10th.
