Brazil: Internacional's Wilson is symbol of gutsy Colorado [Wed Sep 21st, 2005]

Internacional’s hard-fought 3-2 win over Copa Libertadores runners-up Atlético Paranaense saw the birth of a new hero in the southern Colorado.

Defender Wilson stayed on the pitch despite picking up a painful injury as coach Muricy Ramalho had used up his three substitutions.

The win, combined with Fluminense's slip-up draw against Coritiba, gives Inter their first lead of the Brasileirão, with 47 points bagged to date.

Wilson was pleased with the fruit of his perseverance; “I knew it was a crucial point in the match. I overrode the pain to give my team-mates that little extra help and make sure Inter held the win. It was worth it.”
