Brazil: Thrilling Fluminense win [Sat Oct 15th, 2005]

Fluminense won 4-3 at Juventude in an incredible Campeonato Brasileiro match, which was only decided in injury-time.

The game was the first of the round 20 games replayed due to the refereeing scandal of fixed results.

Enilton put Juventude ahead with a header in the opening minute with a header and he doubled their advantage from the penalty spot in the 38th minute.

Adriano Magrao pulled a goal back in the 56th minute but Juventude were reduced to 10 men when Juliano was sent off for a second yellow card.

But the 10 men were level when Adriano Magrao was on target again in the 81st minute.

Lauro put Juventude ahead again in the 85th minute and the visitors were reduced to 10 men three minutes later when Milton do O was red-carded.

Lenny scored the equaliser in the 89th minute and then and then Fluminense's Serbo-Montenegrin star Dejan Petkovic beat keeper Fabiano in injury-time as they moved into sixth place in the table.

"We've clinched an incredible triumph," said Flu striker Tuta. "Now we're celebrating, we have to think that this victory has put us back in the fight for the title."

But coach Abel Braga was not so happy and added: "We played a horrible game. A team who used to be leaders cannot shoot for the first time just in the 43rd minute."

In Belo Horizonte, Cruzeiro and Botafogo played out a 2-2 draw in a replayed game from round 19.

Botafogo went ahead in the 25th minute thanks to a nice goal from Ze Roberto but Adriano levelled eight minutes later.

Diego put Cruzeiro ahead 12 minutes after the interval but an own goal by Argel gifted Botafogo an equaliser 20 minutes from time.

Finally at Sao Januario stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Vasco da Gama drew 3-3 with Figueirense in a game from round 18.

Figueirense went ahead three times but Vasco levelled each time.

Edmundo, Adriano and Marcio Martins scored for Figueirense, while Alex Dias, Fernandinho and an injury-time equaliser from veteran striker Romario saved a point for Vasco.
