Real Madrid Preview

Overview:
Three years is far too long for a team of Madrid’s quality. With manager Fabio Capello at the helm, and a host of top new players, it’s hard to argue that 2007 won’t be their year for these giants of Spanish football.

Players In:
Fabio Capello (Juventus)
Cannavaro (Juventus)
Emerson (Juventus)
Van Nistelrooy (Manchester United)
Diarra (Olympique de Lyon)

Players Out:
Zidane (retired)
Juan Ramón López Caro (Racing)
Arbeloa (Deportivo)
Jurado (Atlético)
Portillo (Nàstic)
Soldado (Osasuna)
Balboa (Racing)
Diogo (Zaragoza)

Transfers assessment:
The best that could have happened in the transfer market did happen. Real were reinforced exactly where they needed to be. Coach Fabio Capello is the main factor that gives Real Madrid the right to demand titles. Cannavaro, Emerson and Diarra are exactly what they wanted all these years -- they are title-less. Ruud Van Nistelrooy is in good shape and an excellent player, and if Ronaldo leaves, it will be a dream for Los Merenjes.

Verdict:
Champions League winners? La Liga winners? They are capable of achieving both, but it will be close.
