Conference Football Betting Preview - 3-Oct-2006
The Nationwide Football Conference season has kicked off and already Oxford are looking clear favourites to win the league this year. Last year's challengers Morecambe and Halifax are unlikely to put up much of a fight this season. But Grays remain competitive and should be in with a chance. Here is a short preview of Round 13's non league football Conference matches. (Odds are taken from Bet365):
Aldershot v Tamworth 1.57 3.40 5.50
Aldershot could only manage a draw at home to lowly Altrincham last time out. These odds seem a tad short. Can they really be counted on to score and defeat the Lambs?
Burton Albion v Crawley Town 1.72 3.40 4.20
Burton defeated Rushden in an impressive away win on Saturday. Crawley are also coming off an away win at Kidderminster, but Burton should edge this one.
Cambridge Utd v Altrincham 1.90 3.25 3.50
Cambridge were victorious away from home at Tamworth in their last match. We should expect them to see off poor travellers Altrincham at these attractive bet odds.
Grays Athletic v Exeter 1.90 3.25 3.50
Exeter are a great price to defeat a struggling Grays. Exeter beat Southport last time out, while Grays lost their home fixture to Morecambe. Away win is the tip.
Halifax v Kidderminster 2.10 3.25 3.00
It's hard to separate these two middling teams. Expect an unspectacular performance and a low scoring draw.
Morecambe v Rushden & Diamonds 1.90 3.25 3.50
Considering Morecambe's poor home form, the value has to be with the away win in this match. Rushden to win. Get on at a tasty 5/2 odds.
Northwich v York 2.40 3.20 2.60
Another poor home side that gets the bulk of their results on the road. York are in great shape and can continue their run. Away win.
Oxford Utd v Southport 1.36 4.00 7.50
A truly unstoppable home side, look for a comfortable Oxford win here. Southport are relegation material.
St Albans v Forest Green 2.00 3.25 3.25
Two poor clubs face each other here. Forest Green have yet to win away, and St Albans are unreliable at home. Bet on the draw.
Stafford Rangers v Dag & Red 2.70 3.20 2.30
Dag & Reg were held in their last match away to Gravesend. Expect them to get another point here against a solid Stafford side. Have another wager on the draw.
Stevenage v Woking 2.20 3.25 3.25
A hard match to predict, but you have to give Woking the slight edge in this one. A draw is very possible, but Woking could nick a narrow win. Have a punt on Woking on the Asian handicaps at +1/4 goal.
Weymouth v Gravesend 1.83 3.25 3.75
Weymouth are strong at home and we can expect another home win from them against a respectable Gravesend side. Decent odds on them too.
