Default Draw for first round of CIS Cup...06/07

Dundee host Partick Thistle and Clyde travel to face Queen of the South in the ties of the first round after the draw for the CIS Insurance Cup.
Those are the only all-First Division ties, to be played on 8 or 9 August.

All 12 Scottish Premier League clubs, relegated Livingston, plus Gretna received byes at this stage.

Ross County host Stranraer, Hamilton Accies are away to Queen's Park, St Johnstone host East Fife and Airdrie United travel to face Raith Rovers.

The Scottish Football League, which runs the CIS Cup, is still without a sponsor for its three divisions.

But Partick chairman Brown McMaster insists a good cup run is more financially rewarding anyway

We got more out of the cups last year than we did from the Bell's league," he said.

"This is the round you really want to get through, it's not seeded and all the clubs a chance.

"But the next round is seeded, so if you get through you're guaranteed a game against an SPL side and that brings in money and more sponsorship.

"I don't think the lack of sponsor for the league makes a huge deal of difference, I think that can be hugely over-estimated.

"Last year, we got 12,000 from league sponsorship. In the big picture, it's not a huge amount of money.

"Last year, we made 300,000 from the Scottish Cup.

"But we could have had an easier tie than Dundee at Dens.

"It's not ideal because we are at Dundee on the Saturday and then to go back up on the Tuesday means we're at Dens Park twice in four days."
