Middlesbrough Betting Preview

Congratulations to Boro and especially Steve Gibson for having faith in Gareth Southgate. It was certainly a bold decision. The pluses are that he knows the players, the staff and more importantly the young talent that is in the squad. The against argument is centred on Southgate’s lack of managerial experience. Can he make the transition? Will he be tactically aware and will manage to deal with the pressure. He certainly looks a potentially exciting young manager.

It should be a smooth transition but Boro need to blood some youngsters and they need them to blossom and step up to the plate. But it could easily be a season of struggle if things start sluggishly. Southgate has promised to play attacking football this season, but it could backfire if the Middlesbrough defence are not on top of their game. It will be an interesting season ahead and could well be a tough time for the new kid on the block.
