Germany's Bundesliga leaders Werder Bremen aren't just ahead of Bayern Munich in the league table. They also know ahead of their matches what Bayern have accomplished.

Last weekend, Werder watched as Bayern lost on Friday night. Thomas Schaaf's side then watched another top competitor, Schalke, claim victory to reach the top of the table on Saturday. A day later, Werder struggled offensively but still claimed a 3-0 home win against Hannover to reclaim the lead.

Miroslav Klose, Diego and the rest will know what Bayern have done as Bremen play Wednesday against Bayer Leverkusen while Bayern host Bochum on Tuesday.

Bremen visit Leverkusen as 2.25 bookies favourites -- with Michael Skibbe's club priced at 2.75 bet odds. And Werder are favoured for good reason, having lost just once in eight away matches, outscoring their opponents 27-11 in the process.

Klose (10 goals) and Diego (eight) are both in the Bundesliga top four in goal scoring, and the duo lead the German league in total goals and assists -- Klose with 20 points and Diego with 18. The next best player is top scorer Marko Pantelic from Hertha Berlin with 14 points (11 goals).

But it isn't just Klose and Diego as Werder have capitalised on a second-best 32.5 percent of their 154 goal opportunities thus far.

Leverkusen also score plenty of goals, their 31 are fourth-best behind Bremen's league-leading 50. But they also concede their fair share -- only five teams are worse than Leverkusen's 26 goals allowed.

We might expect a high-scoring contest. But Werder struggled to string together passes before Hannover began pushing forward, exposing themselves to Bremen's deadly counter attack. If Leverkusen can convert some opportunities -- only 25 percent this term -- that may cause problems for a Werder side not yet in top form.

Other top matches have Bayern Munich as 1.20 betting favourites to win at home against Bochum -- with a good chance of covering the 1.62 wagering odds over for 2.5 goals.

Alemannia Aachen are 6/1 underdogs visiting heavy favourites Schalke (quoted 1.30). Despite two home defeats, Stuttgart are listed at 1.67 bet odds as they host Arminia Bielefeld, who have won just once away from home all season.
