Racing Santander Preview
A hard fighting team without much quality but a strong will and spirit. Last year many important players left and Racing were almost relegated. They were among the favourites before the beginning of the season, but coach Manolo Preciado managed to create a fine team. He is master in psychology and when things were hard, he decided to resign in order to help his players bounce back and raise their morale. Nando Yosu came, but it was Preciado who saved Racing.
Players In: Alfaro Colsa (Atlético) Miguel Ángel Portugal (RM Castilla) Luis Fernández (Betis) Munitis (Deportivo) Momo (Deportivo) Rubén (Deportivo) Balboa (Real Madrid) Calatayud (Málaga) Sobis (Internacional de Porto Alegre) Players Out: Antoñito (Sevilla) Valencia Pinilla Pablo Casar Casquero (Getafe) Juan Ramón López Caro (Levante) Aouate (Deportivo) Marqués (Castellón)Transfers assessment:
Lopez Caro left in July, because he had nothing to do with Racing's transfers. The players who came are good enough and many of them experienced. Munitis is back again in the squad he started his career with and will be a great teacher for his younger team mates. Overall Racing seems to have strengthened.
Racing will still struggle to avoid relegation, but it will be slightly easier for them to succeed than it was last year.
