eircom League 1st Division: Ramblers 0 Sligo Rovers 2

Dismal Run Continues

COBH RAMBLERS would have wished for a better showing on Saturday night given their approaching appearance in the FAI Cup quarter finals next weekend. Cobh’s league form has slipped alarmingly in recent weeks despite their devastating form in the Cup and for manager Liam McMahon there was only more heartache at St. Colman’s Park at the weekend as they were again on the wrong end of the scoreline. For Sligo it was another sign that they can, perhaps, start dreaming of a return to the Premier Division as they clinically saw off the Cobh side with a minimum of fuss.
Sligo scored at possible the best time of the game when Padraig Moran put them in front on the stroke of half time with a well taken strike and with the cushion of their one goal lead Sligo went from strength to strength.
The second period was only 15 minutes old when they secured the full points compliments of young up and coming star Joe Jordan. Jordan, plucked from junior football obscurity, struck the decisive goal on the hour mark.
